Location at Homberg (Ohm), Germany, near the nature reserve “Hoher Vogelsberg”, a region rich of springs brings along best conditions for the simulation of diverse lentic water systems.

The advantages of our test facility:

• The facility is surrounded by a buffersone with maddows - no contamination by agriculture possible.
• the source of sediment and water (naturalised ponds) of the mesocosms is located at the test facility - the mesocosms are embedded in an area of sound and divers populations.
• the available mesocosms are from different ages so that for each test item and and its specific test design the optimal test systems can be choosen.
• The priciple of the enclosure system garantees high similarity of the mesocosms because a well developed pond gets comparted by setting the enclosures just before a study. This allows clear demonstration of effect-concentrations which is necessary to report chracteristics of test items.
